BMW's Laser Headlights go on production
The 2015 BMW i8 will initially offer 'angel-eyes' laser lights as high beam option, beams that could reach even farther and have ultra-precise beam patterns. Additional models will soon have laser lights. The advantages of monochromatic lasers; emit less heat, are produced in one wavelength and provide an intense & high-contrast lighting. They are also power-savers, needing less power than conventional light diodes. The laser diodes are also miniaturized assemblies, ten times smaller than regular diodes. needing less volume and weighs much lighter. With this production option, BMW overtakes the tantalizing Audi's laser lighting concepts.

Very amazing lights!
I wonder how long it will take before there are generic laser headlights for aftermarket use.? |
I wonder how long before Giga-watt laser headlights ...

Less power use is good. With low beams like that, who needs high beams?

What happens when the tailgater is an unmarked police car? |
looking mighty blue, worst color for other drivers at night. "Pleasant to the human eye"?!? what an idiot.
|
Of course when would the bourgeois care about blinding other drivers?!?
|
What happened to led or did we just skip right over that?
I think the amber lights of the 70s that euro spec cars had actually gave better visibility than the white the US uses. |
What does it look like to an oncoming driver, or in the rearview mirror, marketed by eye doctors maybe...?
|
Just don't get caught flashing your high beams at a plane...
