I was born in Brazil and even lived for a while in the Amazon. Extremely favorable to Diesel engines due to their adaptability to nearly every liquid fuel. I also have some experience with CNG.

Have you done any mods to your car or driving style yet?

I'm currently car-less, but considering to get a mid-size Diesel pickup. Since I enjoy off-roading, I'd like to fit the pickup with an adjustable suspension to allow me to get a lower drag while driving it on road without a permanent compromise to cross-country abilities, but aftermarket ones had been outlawed in Brazil. Also just waiting for the warranty of my dad's Subaru Impreza to expire and then the old man is gonna allow me to do some mods, such as a Diesel conversion (dad also likes it), a single-arm windshield wiper, a custom front bumper and some under-body protection which would also have some positive effects on the fuel-efficiency. I'm not discarding the possibility to replace front fenders, engine hood, rear hatch and doors with fiberglass ones.

Sure, Niky. BTW I used to think you were more focused on performance mods, I can't forget that thread about the best cars to run away the cops...

Anything beyond stock is my field of interest. And certain things that make for better performance do make for better economy. ;)

That is true only if you replace a naturally aspirated engine with a downsized turbo'd engine. It's hard for me to imagine when just slapping on a turbo would lower fuel consumption, especially if you aren't immune to the urge of flooring it every now and then;)
