Smile Hi from the Florida Keys

Hi everyone, Glad to be here. I was born and raised in Conway, NH. Moved to the Florida Keys 20 yrs. ago. Own a Marine Canvas business- Custom Boat and Upholstery shop. I have recently designed and make a Lumbar Pillow w/ Ice Pack Pouch. Glad to hear from people at home.

2001 GMC Sonoma Pickup

Neil, Driving a 2001 GMC Sonoma Pickup. Bought it used in 2004 w/ 40,000 miles. V6 motor. Am interested in learning about the gas mileage enhancement. With the current economy; every penny counts! Thanks for replying, debbott

Hi Deb,

Are you keeping a fuel log? Either way, if you start one here on EM, it has handy graphing and stats.

Have you read the ecodriving tips pages? How is your tire inflation? And there are several threads here on EM about making sloped "aero caps" for pickups, as well has other easy aero mods for the grill, etc.

Welcome to EM! Have you thought of leveraging your upholstery skills to make a tonneau aeroshell for your pickup? Maybe something like this in canvas? :

I looked at your model and am VERY interested in helping you with this project. Please send me more details at debsdreamcanvas@yahoo.com
More data on me: I have been sewing since 5 yrs. old and have designed and made many products over the years for other peoples'products. I have made 229 patterns for products of my own; now selling one of them on the internet.
Once again; very interested. Thanks, Deb

Yeah, I saw your lumbar pillow website. Come summertime, don't be surprised if a few of us buy the ice-bag lumbars for avoiding AC on the way to work.

When I was a kid I used to use my Mom's sewing machine to sew holsters for my toy pistols. Later on when I was in college, I sewed teeth onto a conventional car bra (and almost broke the sewing machine doing it) :

It was *glorious* cruising around Westwood in it, and as I always like to say, 100% reversible. I wanted to make it into a product, but as you can probably guess, the labor is *massive*.

cfg83, Great project!!! I did a huge project at Whale Harbor Seafood Buffet- here in the Keys. 8 huge awnings with a scalloped edging. By the time I got all the scallops sewn my head was doing semicircles automatically!!! You get into the swing of it!!! Love your "Jaws bra. Deb
