Short explanation:
Somebody at Nissan Enthusiast Forum paid to allow their members access to Chilton's service.
(Even their free memberships get access.)

Longer explanation:
Each and every time you click on any web link,
the receiving server sees the page you came from.

The underlying address of the link at Nissan Enthusiast is -
h t t p://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/sava66375?db=CHLL&id=40539003520151
(broken up so our forum software doesn't reformat it for us)

Here, infotrac.galegroup.com is acting as a gateway.
If you came from nissanclub.com, CHLL&id=40539003520151 is a match and you're sent to the correct page.
If you came from ecomodder.com, CHLL&id=40539003520151 is not a match and you're redirected to the error page.

The correct page is
h t t p://www.chiltonlibrary.com/Index.aspx
But if you don't arrive at that page from infotrac.galegroup.com, you're redirected to another error page.

Simple way to set this in your favorites is to follow the link in the Altima forums, once there at the Chiltons site, ctrl-D to add to your faves. Then edit the properties of the Chiltons site in your faves to go to:

"http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/sava66375?db=CHLL&id=40539003520151"

works for me no matter where I start from.

Not sure how permanent that solution would be.
galegroup.com sets several cookies:

menu_HOST, menu_START & CTEMP expire at end of session.
menu_SURL expires 90 days after your first visit.
CPERM, GALE_AUTH expire 180 days after your most recent visit.

I'd guess that when menu_SURL expires, you'll need to start from the Altima forums again.

Actually, a little investigating shows that the link has nothing to do with the Altima forum. If you follow the first part of the link:

"http://infotrac.galegroup.com"

It takes you to the login for the Infotrac System at galegroup.com. Live Oak Public Libraries is the username "sava66375". The password is the last part in the link: "40539003520151". If you go in this way, you get to the main page for the Gale Databases that are available to this account. ChiltonLibrary.com is just one of the databases available. The link in the Altima forum uses "CHLL" to automatically forward you to the Chilton page.

So someone just posted the link to the Live Oak Public Library account on Galegroup.com with the username and password embedded in the link.
