Captain Bob of Aging Wheels is making a 900-HP EV Escape conversion

I swear that I posted this, but I cannot find it!

I didn't want to create a new thread, I just wanted to update an existing one!

He said that he is fabricating everything custom for the Ford, which he wouldn't be able to use on the bus, so he will only take the knowledge and use it on the bus.

He also said that this project is paying for itself, he never could have afforded it otherwise, and has spent $32,000 on large items so far.

As the Escape is (presumably, at least) cheaper than a bus and all the other bells and whistles which might be added to convert into a motorhome, sounds like a reasonable idea to do it as a Guinea pig. On a sidenote, after he converts the bus too, would be interesting to see how the converted Escape would cope with flat-towing like some motorhome owners often do with a small runabout to use while the motorhome is parked somewhere.

I believe they call the towed vehicle a "Toad."

I think that I would rather use a tow dolly so the odometer doesn't read miles that only apply to the wheels.

Bruce Meyers named his the Tow'd.

With most (if not all) new cars featuring digital odometers for more than a decade, it's no longer a matter of concern :D

He built his first battery box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDz_9iN-bUU

Haven't watched, but Jack Rikard used to say that the battery box is 8/10th of the task.

No longer a matter of concern for vehicles with electronic speedometers. I have even seen some old cars adapted with speedometers originally intended to be used on bicycles, once their stock ones failed.
