GAC Motors coming to America 2019

GAC Guangzhou Automobile Group made the announcement that they will enter North America in 2019. The Chinese car company will start shipping its own products here. In the beginning, they are currently establishing dealer networks throughout the west coast.
Earlier this year they tried branding under the name...'Trumpchi' the homonym of their Chinese domestic market name, 'Chuanqi' but recent US politics will most likely change that.

I have already seen a handful of GAC trucks, mostly with Uruguayan plates. Well, it's quite interesting that they're trying to enter the American market, but since GAC is FCA's Chinese partner it may not be a shot in the dark at all.

I'll believe it when they go up for sale. Not saying it won't happen; it's just that the barriers are so high that the "best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry" when it comes to a new-for-the-US/Canada manufacturer actually making it to dealer lots and having real-life sales of cars and light trucks. Mahindra didn't make it. Elio didn't make it. Tesla is still questionable whether or not they'll make despite huge cultural support. Peugeot and Renault have tried it and exited quickly, and it's much tougher these days than when Peugeot and Renault each took a shot at it back in the day.

Elio does just enough that I do not know what to think about them. If they accomplished more I could believe in them. If they accomplished less they would obviously be a scam. Are they simply incompetent?
