A cheap cheerful economic easily built little runabout :)
This is a DIY cheap, economic little runabout, easily built from wood mostly and an E-bike motor.
While the nose could easily be made more aero, I like it. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTPTy7ETOPI This video (from a series) sort of sums it up best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxJG_hhQfFQ&t=4s |
I always liked the Hyundai soapbox racer: www.carscoops.com: Looking For A Weekend Project? Build Your Own Hyundai Soapbox Racer

A nod towards 'light and easy aero' is a plus for economy here. The linked little wooden 'Noddy Car' is in fact being used to go into town on shopping etc errands. There's even a simple soft top for rainy days. That you can pedal or not as the mood takes you is a good, time saving way of getting a bit of exercise while also adding to the vehicle's economy. That's where it beats your soap box racer. :) It also looks to be a bit more aero. Especially if the nose was rounded. Basically we are talking a cheap, cheerful , easy to make velomobile as a car alternative for short trips. As it's 'not big enough' and 'not bling enough' the emotional response is: 'NO: Unsafe and embarrassing', so this thread likely isn't going anywhere. The ONLY? person I am aware of who does not have a car, but only a velomobile as his daily transport is The ToeCutter. https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthre...ile-39095.html Good on him! Especially for holding up the middle finger to 'The Norm'. |
I grew up outside McMinnville, OR, where Ron Courtney built the X-51 so it will always be my favorite custom car.

Generally things this easy to build look more like: https://makezine.com/wp-content/uplo...8021124277.jpg That's the main point of the 1st post. |
Electrathon racers were built by high school students. The evolution to production failed.

What I want instead of my jigsaw is the Maslow CNC router Quote:

Hmmmmm.
How do they address all the weird things a router does to destroy your piece of wood: walking, over feed, chatter....? Must feed really slow and account for rotation of bit. |
I would appreciate the opportunity to find out.
