China Overtook U.S. In Monthly Electric-Car Sales Two Months Ago
This is an interesting read. I didn't know that China bought that many cars, but it makes sense... Ah well, I'm glad to see them pushing forward with something other than smog spewing vehicles. :)

China has 4 times the population of the US too.

80% of China's electricity is produced with coal vs 44% in the US. EVs are dirtier than ICEs in China.

Whereas electric vehicles may start out with comparable pollution levels depending on how clean the electricity grid is but if the government also starts cleaning up its power generation then all those electric cars become less polluting. I imagine it is easier to build wind turbines than it is to convince hundreds of millions of people to spend money to make their ICE vehicles less polluting. |

Not holding my breath. but it is possible
If China starts making green grid technology for the rest of the world then it could result it being used in China too. Once they start producing something in quantity it will not only be sold cheaply to other countries but may also be used locally. Not because it is green but because it is cheap and available. Much better that importing dirty coal from us crazy Aussies who are madly digging up our back yard and selling it to the cheapest bidder. |

And pushing Wind turbine installations. Note that they already have more wind turbine capacity than any other country by a wide margin. http://www.thewindpower.net/scripts/...sto-001_en.php You can stop holding your breath now. (Granted coal is still bad there...) |
