Aero motorcycle tail box

I've been thinking about this for quite a while and finally had some time last week to put something together. I made an aero storage tail box for my 2000 sv650. I normally get 50mpg, 99.9% of the time I don't have a passenger, but I made it so that I can easily convert back to a passenger seat. Since the upholstery on my passenger seat was toast, I just ordered a whole new seat on ebay for $18. I then used the old seat and screwed the coroplast box directly into it. The two additional ropes are redundancy.

So far I filled up after having it on for half a tank, and I saw no difference in gas mileage.

I consider this a success because I have tons of additional storage, and it has absolutely zero impact on functionality. I can't see or feel it while riding, and it doesn't make me any wider as every millimeter counts splitting lanes everyday in Los Angeles.
Hopefully I'll see a minor increase in highway efficiency, I'll keep posted with my results.

I'll try to post pics of it here too

Here's the aero tail box I made for my CBR250R. Gave me a few percent improvement.

The plank style luggage system bolted to a spare passenger seat is versatile for all my other bikes.

very cool, is it fiberglass?

mine is not nearly as nicely finished as that, but it only took me a couple hours and I didnt spend a dime on it. had 1/4" coroplast, spare passenger seat with bad upholstry, and assorted washers, cotterpins, and screws.

the plywood rack is great, could be very handy.

finally figured out how to post pics:

I have more in my album
