Civic sedan kammback

Im wanting to do a kamm on the vlx. I don't want one on top of the back window. Best thing I could think of is the style on a pro stock drag car. Any aero guys weigh in? I'm not sure if it would be worth it but it should do something.

At least one of the members has tried it and I don't remember that it 'showed' at the gas pump. You might search around at the forum.
Adding length is good if top, sides, and belly are treated simultaneously.

I am trying (and still doing) it. It seemed to work the two tanks, but it's nothing scientific. I saw the results from a Beetle here (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ted-26915.html), and know the success of boattails, so it only seemed fitting.

I know it works (in my head I know it...lol) and I am not really caring about testing. It doesn't matter to me if it is a little or a lot, I will fine tune and maybe test when it's warm. As it gets colder here (in Northern Ohio), my mileage will drop. In the Mustang it stayed the same or went up, as I continued to mod- so when I got to warm weather, it was great- I am planning the same with the Insight.

I have played around with designs for spoilers and rear box cavities, and I have not yet come to a conclusion or built a final version (only in the mode of "cardboard aided design"). But I'll share these pictures I took this morning when I arrived at work, since my 1998 Coupe is very similar to your VLX.

Driving to work, the car got a light misting in the last two miles, stop and go traffic and then speeds up to 45/50 mph. Here are the water traces on the roof and rear glass that were left when I arrived at work.

I think the traces across the rear show a lot of turbulence.

And here is an older image, in which a morning mist had left my tufts pasted to the car in a trace of the air flow:

My sense is that the rear turbulence cause by the too sharp angle of the rear glass and c pillars would be tough to reduce very greatly at the speeds we usually drive, unless you built a Kammback.

But I still want to try spoilers and such, so I am game to see what you might attempt and test.

Maybe I'll try a cheap version with cardboard, duct tape and some rod. Can hurt

YKYAEM when you get excited about misting tracks on your car :-) ( good catch there Cali98 ! )
