34mpg on a 4000lbs suv (22mpg epa rated) [VIDEO]

hi guys i recently started hypermiling with my suv and sedan. i have no mods just stock vehicles. i have been revising my driving habits, specially with the suv. my suv is a crossover acura rdx with a turbocharger that goes to about 14.5psi at full boost. i could not find a BSFC map for this car (i would appreciate some help in this area). but i used ~70% load and 2500rpm with 1/3 boost for load. anyway i managed to get unbelievable 34mpg for about 50% city driving with this so called pulse and glide tactic. i have been reading about this tactic on the internet. i was very impressed. here is my video

Good job . I find that steady state hiway driving even at or over the posted limit gives me the best mileage and the less coming to a complete stop and then trying to get the mass moving again is the biggest fuel eater , but do what works for you as long as it does not distract you from the road

yes unfortunately with steady driving i only get 1-2mpg better than epa estimates (about 25mpg). if i drive over 65mph then epa MPG start to fade too. i found pulse and glide to be the only way. my car runs rich over 2500rpm at 11:1 (max load).

Turbo engine, try lower load when accelerating. Boost should be landing you in rather rich running territory. I think even naturally aspirated engines start enriching pretty early (like 60% load?) from the factory to protect the cats and stuff. See if 50% load gives you better gas mileage?
