We have some prizes left over from our 11th birthday contest. So we're doing another draw!

To qualify to win, all you have to do is participate in the forum as usual. We will draw 2 members at random who posts in any thread in the forum between 12:01 AM EST today (Feb. 14) and noon EST on Thurs, March 14.

Up for grabs:

* NOTE: Only members who joined before today can win.

Winning usernames will be announced in this thread. Winners must claim their prize within 10 days of the announcement (by contacting us via private message), or we reserve the right to draw another name in your place. We're not kidding - we've had to do this before.

Bad news for us means good news for you!

Forum participation generally tracks gasoline prices in the U.S., which means with current low prices your odds of winning are near 11-year highs!

Good luck!

Ha. I bet the T shirt is size M to motivate you to reduce loaded vehicle weight by adjusting the infamous nut on the steering wheel again ;)

You know what - I want to find out :D

A loss of 50-100 lbs of weight (fat) will add ~1mpg!!!LOL

Depends on what and how you drive.
Weight is the most significant factor on economy unless you drive fast, then air resistance takes over. But I do drive slowish (going with the flow in the slow lane).
If I take my wife and kids along (who add slightly less than 200 lbs) I get nowhere near the economy I can get alone. I lose about 5% for adding 7% of weight.

So if I lost 100 lbs - which would not be healthy in my case, but somewhere on the way is my target - but never mind, if I lost 100 lbs that would be about 3.5% of total weight on my commute.
That could easily be more than 1 mpg.
Maybe I could consistently break 60 mpg per tank in summer.
In a lighter and more economical 1st gen Insight the difference would even be substantially bigger.

But I really don't care how good it does. Any improvement is an improvement, and when it can be had for free I don't count the beans.

If I win an M sized Ecomodder shirt I'll try to post a photo of me wearing it.
The posting wouldn't be the hardest part of that ;)

How would someone know that they had won?

redpoint5 02-14-2019 04:27 PM

It will be announced here, and the winners will get a PM.

...see, I've just improved my odds of a grand prize.

I've lost weight for my car before, but it was to make it handle better instead of get better mileage:

Been a long week. Saw this thread, thought it was the one from the previous contest, and wondered where all the posts went.

College does things to a person.

I just won last contest, so count me out of this one.
