This is a electric car, its is said to do 400km/h.. is that the reason for 2x the rolling resistance in the tires..?

However from a areo standpoint its pretty slick.. wonder what its CD is?

I guess both of the front wheels turn together? Just seems like a waste.

I've seen this before. The reason is so they can have more power. Each wheel has it's own motor that produces near 100 horsepower? so instead of 400 horsepower it has something like 800. But I could be wrong or way off. But that's what I remember seeing a few years back. I think its all electric.

there is more then one vehicle there, one of them has door handles and the other doesn't... so is it even real?

DifferentPointofView 05-30-2008 02:52 PM

yes, it's real, one I think is a prototype and the other is an actual one. I saw this about 2 years ago on the discovery channel. I think they were doing donuts in it. I'll look to see if I can find anything about it.

Ok, Now I remember, it's called the Eliica, Or the ElectricLithiumioncar. It's got 8 80 hp wheels and broke the fastest record set by a gasoline powered car. Super car that you can afford the "gas"? this is it. Although if you can afford a car this expensive you can surely afford the gas.

In the late '70s Tyrrell built and raced a Formula 1 car with 4 wheels in the front that all steered. The idea was to use smaller wheels for reduced wind resistance while maintaining the same size tire contact patch.

Only raced 2 seasons due to lack of tire development and the extra weight involved with 2 steering sets in the front of the car.

I saw a few youtubes of this car flying on a ovla track .. its fast as hell.. i can see the need for wheels if there going for more power with limitations on power per wheel... however its the same as i look at a tahoe with a single passenger flying down the freeway.. what a waste..lol

I've seen the car on Discovery Channel's Future Car series. The owner lives in Japan. If you know the name of the car or inventor you'll be able to find the car on youtube.
