Corvette museum eats their own...

Right in the center of the domed section of the National Corvette museum, a sinkhole collapsed the show floor swallowing six museum and two donor display cars in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The damaged cars; 1962 Black Corvette, 1984 PPG Pace Car, 1992 White one Millionth Corvette, 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette, 2001 Mallet Hammer Corvette, 2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette, 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and 2009 ZR-1 Blue Devil. The Bowling Green, Kentucky region is geographically known for the state's largest karst features; the Western Pennroyal largest subterranean and cave complexes. The complex is shut down and experts brought in to assess structural stability before any recovery of the show cars.

Bowling Green, KY is also the only dedicated production plant for the legendary Chevrolet Corvette.

Yikes! Sink holes are certainly becoming all too common.

An insurance adjuster is headed to the museum to assess values of the vehicles and the damage. Frassinelli said she was thankful that this didn't occur during visiting hours.

How does insurance replace items that unique.

Oh, yes, people dying would have been bad.

I should have thought of that first...

Kind of sweet justice served after those GM *******s crushed all the EV1's

Maybe they can just go ahead and dump ALL the Corvettes in that hole, and while they're at it, top it off with all the El Camino's they can find, which shouldn't be hard to do in Kentucky

This issue is caused mostly by excessive irrigation.

Unless we want to stop, we get to live with side effects like sink holes.

Good place to put a corvette. Next to muscle car museums they need to hit Jerry Seinfeld's collections of porsches that sit idle and then head over to Jay Lenos garage.

Wrap yo ass in fiberglass.

Destruction of already built cars is the Most wasteful thing you can do, ALL the embedded energy in those existing cars you wish to Waste? Kind of like those Eco-Nazis in California a few years ago, setting fire to the Hummer Dealership, the pollution and release of toxic fumes far outweighed the exhaust emissions they would have produced in their lifetimes.
As far as people who work hard, make money, and spend it on what they want, and in the process preserve History somehow irritates you...Uh, is Stalin your hero? Have a little "Envy" issue do we? Last night I saw Jay Leno driving his 1909 Baker electric car, you wish that was not saved, I guess?

They should have required post-tension cables in the concrete floor with the kind of soils found there. It would have supported the span of the sinkhole.

There was some monster truck rally out here years ago, where they destroyed a Prius. I do not think they burned it, but that was stupid.
