CR-Z - $19,200 - On Sale August 24
I know its not a big hit, but still think it would be a great fun car to try out. It still gets a better EPA rating than my Paseo and has 30 more hp. I think we could wring some respectable mileage out of it and still have it be a fun car.

Also, the EPA is required to test it in "Normal" not in "Eco" mode. So, it'd be better just for that. And then add hypermiling to the top, and EOC'ing... and you have big grinz. :D

This would probably be a fun car to take for a test drive. No doubt it would exceed the EPA fuel economy.
Now that it's out in Europe and Japan, have any hypermilers posted their results with it? Surely somebody's installed a kill switch and a ScanGauge by now, right? |
Hello -
I think I know what car my wife will want me to buy. This is my favorite picture : http://images.thecarconnection.com/m...00303598_m.jpg Very reminiscent of the storage zpaze I used to have in my CRX. CarloSW2 |
No wonder car makers still call the UK Treasure Island :(
CR-Z here is listed for the same numbers as that article but in GBP. Ok the GBP is taking a tumble at the moment but its still over 1.4. Plus bringing them to the UK they can stay RHD. So I'm afraid Mr Honda will be waiting a long time for my money. Shame as I quite fancy one. |
I really like the look of this car, i always loved the crx's shape. Seems like a good middle ground between a sporty car and an eco friendly one. There's only one question i have about it. On the Honda website, the CVT transmission is rated at a higher MPG than the 6 speed manual. Does anyone have any insight as to why this is, or if it's a misleading statistic based on the way they drove it?
|
The CVT is capable of keeping rpms lower on the highway. The manual trans is unfortunately not geared great for highway travel.

I don't know ... I'm deciding between buying this and the new ford fiesta. I just don't know if Honda hit the right nail with this one...
Fiesta 13k Crz 19k A he'll of a lot cheaper, no batteries to worry about, AND almost the same fuel efficiency .... !!!!! Not to mention for 19k you get a fiesta with EVERYTHING (leather seats, sync, push button start, etc etc etc) |
i've heard good things about recent fords but the people putting out the reviews were getting paid by the auto companies so i'm not sure how good they are now. Another option that would be around that price range fully loaded would be a toyota yaris

But what's surprising is that the fiesta gets 4 more mpg than a yaris :O which for us ecomodders is substantial ... I'm not going to lie though, the CRZ looks WAY better than the fiesta or the yaris but is the aesthetic appeal really worth the price? (I'm not made of money sadly ) |
