Crazy Prius Car to Motorcycle

It is common knowledge converting a car to three wheels means it is legally a motorcycle.

So how to do this with a Gen 2 Prius?

Weld two rims together. Reverse the rear suspension parts to support the central dual tires.

Sure. No walk in the park. Yet also not so difficult.

Why do it?

You can aero mod the old rear wheel openings. Mileage goes up.

You might use the wheel well volumes for storage.

Insurance goes way down.

Possibly you can avoid smog requirements.

Finally, it will be a real conversation magnet.

P.S.: 2 tires on the now single rim is legally a third wheel and NOT 2 wheels. Per modders who passed DMV.

This is actually a thing in Germany. The car is modified and speed limited (45km/hr, I think?) and it's legal for a 16 year old to drive.

Excellent question. A glance at DDG:Images suggest the Prius has a twist beam axle.

Ich glaube, es. Gute Bilder.

Ich habe Deutsch aus einem Buch für Französischsprachige gelernt. Nachdem ich Deutschland viele Male besucht habe, respektiere ich die Umsetzung der Idee.

That is a small impediment. Far from a deal killer.

But those are real 3-wheelers, which would involve a lot more work to adjust the ABS and other electronic systems.

What exactly do you propose to reverse?

How about a single rear wheel on a swing arm? Putting it in the spare tire well would extend the wheelbase and improve stability.
