free version of a carfax service?
yay, i can pay a truckload of money to check 30 VIN #s... but i only need to check one VIN.

i'll hope there's a free VIN # check, owner count and accident reports.

Send a message via AIM to dremd
Just do a free ebay local classified listing for the car.
Look at the report that Ebay does, then close the add.
Or you could just pay for it.

Carfax never showed anything for my old 6000 wagon. Even though sometime before I bought it, it had to have been in a pretty bad accident. Half of the passenger side had been replaced, engine was bent towards center, front passenger seat was bent toward center, control arm or engine cradle was bent and wheel sat too far back, bent crank pulley, shattered remnants of parts and missing parts under the hood....

Was the best running car I ever had though.

...FYI they also only "handle" the new 17-digit VIN's, not the older varieties.
