Dealer, independent shop or DIM (do it myself)?
So I subscribed to a couple days of TIS since it seems impossible to get the swaybar bushing brackets off. :(
I was missing the first step: Remove the engine and transaxle. :( Now what? Should I take out the engine and transmission to do this? If I take them out part way I might possibly be able to get at the bushings. But I don't know, maybe I should take it to a mechanic, or at least get a price first. If Toyota's own instructions say "remove the engine and transaxle" then I would guess it would be kind of expensive to have done. :( |
TIS?

Anyhow, I figured it out. I just loosened the bolts on the brakets and slid the bushings out and the new ones back in. At any rate the bushings were actually fine. It was the swaybar links that were bad, which I was also replacing. Now the car drives without those clunking noises. |
Monetizing right to repair?

Oh well. At least I got the page that says I need to remove the engine in order to change the swaybar bushings. |
Did you use a VPN to claim you are logged in from Massachusetts?

If Toyota respects Massachusetts' authoritay, spoofing your location might be worthwhile. I don't see value in a VPN otherwise.

I'm favorable to DIY, but if you were too concerned about the risk of breaking something else in the car, paying somebody else to get the job done and becoming liable for whichever goes wrong may give you peace of mind...

The CBR600 F4i has a cam chain tensioner that rattles soon after installation despite the fact that it's been revised like 6 times.
I replaced it once, and the instructions are basically to remove the engine, or something silly. Instead I spent 2 hours with a silly homemade tool to get at the 2 bolts, and 3 hours trying to get the lousy 2 bolts back in on the new tensioner. Used up a years worth of curse words in the process. My bike rattles, because the stock tensioner is garbage. Seems those serous about getting the buzzing sound to cease for good replace it with a manual tensioner. Quote:
