Dodge 'scat' pack ...but scat mean poo !

Off topic, but it still deals with cars. Also, I found the name a bit amusing. :D

So I was a Mopar guy early on ( still love the look of the cars too ) , but never knew what 'scat' meant.
I just thought it meant to scoot along quickly.
Then last week I was bored, and picked up a book on wildlife identification.
There along with the identification tracks and such, was a guide to the 'scat'

So did I miss something, or is 'scat' just a new word for terds ?

As of 2016, Mopar is still using it ....in fact they even brought back the name for the high performance line.

Apparently, Chrysler is being sued over the name too : Fiat-Chrysler Sued by Scat Enterprises Over Dodge Scat Pack Name

I would let anyone have the name scat. It's meant animal poo forever.

In "Cheaper by the Dozen," the main family and their rivals get lost and one of the kids says he can use scat trails to get them back, then explains to a kid from the other family that scat was feces.
"Cool!"

Using 'scat trails' for wayfinding?

Nobodies asked why the name is important to a second company 'Scat Enterprises—a California-based performance parts company'. Its a VW parts supplier: Scat VW

So why would they choose that name? Rumor had it that it's an acronym for Southern California Auto Thieves. They've been in business for 50 years.

Lots of words have more than one meaning. Which as in this instance, often results in some unintended humor :-)

Dodge created another instance of (presumably :-)) unintended humor when it decided to name its line of macho he-man pickups the Ram - an animal not exactly noted for behavior which the intended market would approve: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0309073256.htm

So, why have I not heard of a vehicle alled "The Chihuahua?" :)

How is a male sheep (or goat) macho? Sure, they have the iconic horns, but at "between 45 and 140 kg (99 and 309 lb)" (wikipedia), they are bigger than dogs, but lighter than lions.

Which is more macho, a male goat (or sheep) or a lion? :)

I needed to tell Google a ram goat; the first many results were for the trucks, and then random access memory, the true hero!

Scat is also a style of singing.

Quote:

In vocal jazz, scat singing is vocal improvisation with wordless vocables, nonsense syllables or without words at all. Scat singing is a difficult technique that requires singers with the ability to sing improvised melodies and rhythms using the voice as an instrument rather than a speaking medium.

Ooby, dooby.

And also an acronym for a kind of flexible tubing used in light airplane cooling ductwork.

Turn your back on one for a moment and then report back if it exhibited any macho behavior.
