Early Retirement Extreme

I would like to introduce my two most visited forums to each other.

Ecomodder, meet ERE:
Early Retirement Extreme Forums

Both are about saving (fuel, money) mainly by cutting down on waste.
Both have beneficial ecological side-effects as well.

And both have been personally inspiring of real life change for me.

Neat site. I probably qualify.

Been telling everyone I'm "semi-self-unemployed" for years. :) That's sorta like partially retired.

Not buying too much crap helps a lot. Oh, and paying cash for - not financing - the crap you do want/need. Among other things. Basic advice on that site, I'm sure. Like "slowing down" is on EM.

I have been spending very little (with no effect on quality of life) forever, but I'm only just starting to learn about the investment side of it.

I guess I'm kind of semi-self-un-employed too.
It's a sweet life!

Most interesting. I've been an extreme early retirer for several years now. Many people would think it odd but I find it awesome!

I just call it being cheap! But cool site. Will now spend many hours reading about other people being cheap.

Here's another early retirement site. Lots of really smart people on there, many of whom are already retired early, who are willing to share their wisdom. Early Retirement & Financial Independence Community

God bless the man who speaks the unvarnished truth. :)

Actually, there is a distinction that should be made regarding this. The person who is cheap is one who is stingy - one who will not spend money even for necessities. OTOH the person who is frugal has a sense of value and seeks to maximize that value (getting his money's worth) and eliminate being wasteful. ;)

Sort of like the distinction between hypermiling and just driving slow
