Electric Water Pump EWP80

Okay
We are familiar with Echo Troll(Canada) modifications. I have interest in the electric water pump . He went with a davies craig ewp80 electric water pump and installed in a TOYOTA. I am kinda considering modificiaton however have the following concerns:

space
mounting, mating , install in lower radiator space.
wiring connections.
do you remove belt driven water pump and if so how do you cover the new hole created.???
I like the idea of more engine torque and no belt but have concerns on how to get there..........

i will try to answer some of your question:
space: my a/c delete helped me on my echo but what car you have?
you will receve wiring instruction and mounting instruction if you buy the ewp
i did not remove my water pump. what I did is remove the impeller

Great thread idea. Subscribed. If there were a way to do this an make it reversible for emissions inspection, I would consider doing it. It's a great mod.

In my case it is not a reversible mod. But i dont Know why it Would affect emission ?

+1 I've been wanting to do this since I saw echo-francis do it. Maybe this will give me the courage to do such a thing. (well, that and the money! :p)

I assume you mean not easily or worth the effort to have it reversed for an hour?

echo-francis 01-20-2014 04:19 PM

to reverse it I would have to but a new mechanical water pump and 2 new water hose and it would be very PITA

Since Honda has discontinued a water pump design that fits about 500 of their motorcycles, and I went though hell finding one for a friends '97 vfr. After that 3 month crusade, I decided to look into replacing the Honda pump with something without a mechanical shaft seal.
I found that bosch makes a pump called the PAD pump that uses a mag coupled drive and only draws a few amps (less than the Craig pump). Its on my list of things to try on the HHO VFR, but its not at the top of the list.

Flow rate(s) vs. pressure(s)?

I've got this chart, just remember most engine driven pumps don't move much water at idle.

...sorta *implies* the use / insertion of either: (a) metering plate/orifice or (b) adjustable value to control/limit coolant flow at engine idle, but not at full load conditions.
