what kinda of tires should i get

I have a 2000 echo with one tire losing pressure. Will drop from 40lbs to 20 in about 2 days but then remain around 20 then drop off. The car sits high, is bone stock, i get about 40mpg average, currently on car are 175 65 14, rpms are really high at 60mph, any advice on lrr tires, should i get a taller tire to drop the engine rpms, which would increase overall height of car, im pretty much thinking if i change the height of tire it will all even out, lower rpms = better mpg, but extra weight of tire, plus ride height will decrease mpg, also i have 2 young kids so going over max pressue isnt an option.
thanks,
mike

If your tires have good tread just take that one in to a tire place and get it re-seated and balanced. It should cost less than $20.

Otherwise the Honda Insight used Bridgestone Potenza RE92.

I agree that the tire is likely totally fixable. If there's still decent tread on there and they aren't 5+ years old, I'd just get it fixed. Likely it's just a nail in the tread or a leaking bead seal.

There are mixed experiences - taller tyres helped some members, but others saw a drop in mpg.
If you increase the tyre size, don't overdo it.

The RE92 are only LRR in the size used for the Insight, the other R92s are very different tyres.

If you check the slowly leaking tyre, I'd expect you to find a puncture with the culprit still wedged in it.
I've had a repaired motorcycle tyre leak down to 20-25 psi and no lower, due to air seeping out around the plug that it was repaired with.

Stick the suspect tire in soimething that will hold water and look for the bubbles that indicate a leak. That way you know where the leak is before you have to spend money or time fixing something that may not help you.

thanks for all the great advice, will do the dunk test, the tires have a little bit of dry cracking , but a lot of tread, not sure exactly how old the tires are, got the car about a year ago. the car is amazing, but if 5th gear was longer it would be out of this world.
