EV Presentation - Pittsburgh - Sept.25th
Hey Everyone,
I did a presentation on how I built my own electric car. This was this past weekend in Pennsylvania at the Mother Earth Fair. I threw a video camera in the back of the room to capture the presentation. I plan to chop the video up into YouTube-sized pieces so people on the web can see it. Here's the first part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUapvvCcOUs (EDIT add part 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8fRKWytCRk EDIT: I think this should do a playlist with all the videos, in order. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...2E16609304D64A |
Here's part 4.
I know..... out of order. Rendering on parts 2 & 3 is slow. I will put them in order when the other ones are ready. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqB0gDMLQrs |

Thanks for the updates.... part 1 left me hanging for more!!! :)

Hang on everybody!
I might have to remove these videos from YouTube. I was just informed by a comment on one of the videos that "There is no such thing as a $1300 electric car". They don't exist! Since they don't exist, I will just have to remove all the information I ever put up about it. I know, I know.... I shouldn't let a stupid YouTube comment get my feathers up, but I just need to rant about it. Here it is: "you better learn how to tell the truth. You are a typical salesman. there is no such thing as a$1300 electric car. Teslas listed at $ 109,000 not $130,000. it is impossible to build an electric car for $1300. the motor alone costs $1500. You can not buy an off the shelf controller for an automatic transmission. this guy shouldn't be teaching anything. he is going to get someone hurt. Phil Galati NJ Electric vehicle Conversions" I am the typical salesman, yet he lists his company name in the sign-off... Oh my... |
Ben,
Ignorance is alive and well in NJ. I went to Phil's site (intentionally not included here) and he apparently is starting a conversion business which includes selling components to DIYers. I guess it must be part of his marketing strategy to trash DIYers, and at the same time, selling to them. Keep up the good work, my friend. Education is the heart of the solution. Eric |
Part 5!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opfxbOoHQ4k As to YouTube comments in general, I always try to keep them positive. There's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Whether you are a DIY'er, a dealer, or a savvy consumer, we all need to do what we can to improve the world around us. Tearing down other people doesn't aid that goal. (Not saying I am perfect either though. Sometimes I do rant or find it hard to hold my tongue at particular stupidity! :p ) |

...your slogan could've been: "...electrons, not hydrocarbons, are your friends."
