hello im new

This place is great! I am interested in setting up a electronic vehicle, not sure when I will start. I am in Northern VA, any one here from there?

Is there anything special you have to do for safety inspections, etc?

Welcome to Ecomodder

goEv,

I'm in Herndon, VA. I haven't gotten into EV's yet, but wouldn't mind discussing them.

hey easy. I am in woodbridge/manassas. I am checking into things and trying to see what the options are and how much it will cost. Have you checked into what car to use? I would like to try a porshe 914, but then they are old and may have rust issues. Something with 4 seats would be more practical of course

goEv,

You might want to look around for info. Here's a link for the DC Chapter of the Electric Automobile Association. You might fine some answers to your questions on that site.

Electric Auto Association - Electric Vehicle Information

A lot of folks are looking for an improvement over the old lead acid battery. For most EV's they will give you a range of about 50 miles. The newer batteries cost big bucks....

The "East of the Mississippi EAA Confrence" would be a great place to see modded electric cars for yourself, and meet people who have converted, and it's happening pretty close to you (Hagerstown, MD). The link is here:

And here's a link to a book by a local Maryland author about electric cars... although it's more about their history and advantages then how to convert:
