First patent application was sent on 3.5.2013

http://www.slideshare.net/Tuneko/tuneko-ziptie-plug

7.5.2013 I won Joensuu Science Park business idea competition with my Ziptie Plugs second version. Check out the powerpoint above to see what`s its all about.

Its been over two years since I revealed my attaching plug consept to public. After two years of development and testing I finally got enough money to file first patent application on the same product.

First versions have been milled in lathe and that locking mechanism was taken from regular reusable ziptie. Problem with those was that part price was 2 € per piece so it was way too expensive to get big sales volume. People who have purchased my Tunecover hubcabs have always given very good feedback how good and clever product is, which is where it was originally designed for.

Here is the old marketing video of the product:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K4HSD6c0_I

New version will have cap which covers the locking mechanism and makes smooth surface. So looks are even cleaner and product is still reusable. More data and pictures will be revealed 7.5.2013 as there is more good news coming that day on same product ;).

Also without those pretesters like ERA team I would not have got the ideas for improvements.

Now I need again your help to make progress on that product even more:

I need comments and suggestions what is good best name for the product.
- Tuneko plug. So keep it simple and not make hassle of products name. Same format company name and product name could be used in oncoming products also.
- Tuneko Ziptie-Plug thats the current name, but I am not totally diggin it

Something else?

Name should meet these criterias:
- simple and catchy and easy to pronounce in most languages
- similar named web page should be available www.xxxxx.com

I would appreciate if you could send what you think is best name suggestions in private message, but all messages here are also welcome.

Current plan to start manufacturing is to begin preselling the product in advance 20€/100 pcs including shipping worldwide. I need at least 2500 preorders to get plastic injection tooling ready and make some test samples to fine tune the mechanical side of the product. There are also legal issues which need to looked through. That will make 50000€ that is half of what I have calculated to need but if get half of 100000€ I can get that other half from finnish goverment loan. I hate taking loans so better if I get 5000 preorders.

So if you are interested to order and pay this product in advance ad
prebuy message on this thread and how many bags you want to purchase. If there is many orders coming I will make own thread to for sale section. I will make kickstater project of the product if I cannot get that 2500 preorders without it. Ofcourse I will sell the products in Finland also and this only one place to get orders.

Messages like this:

Prebuy 1 bag

That dont mean you will have to actually buy the product. So that means you are interested to buy product for that price 20€/bag including shipping.

I need to think what is right price for that product so I would like to get also feedback does that feel fair price shipped to your homeadress or are you willing to pay more or less?

Target is that I would have the injection tooling ready at the end of summer so parts should be ready for shipping hopefully on August 2013.

Places where you can use the plug in ecomodding projects are at least:
wheelcovers
grill blocks
undertrays

I am also trying to make new marketing material and for that purpose I need ideas where you will plan to use the plug?. I know almost all places on automotive sector but what comes to boats, home and other places are difficult to figure in advance because there are so many thing you can use it for

Your videos are nice. Good luck with the patent, the naming, the launch.

One thought is to check what your company name's phonetic sound will mean in another language, most especially perhaps the European languages, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. You don't want to repeat Chevy's experience with the Nova ("no va" in Spanish meaning "doesn't go").

What about zip rivet, as opposed to pop rivet?
It would describe its function so if you show it next everyone will understand what it is.
Also you'd see the advantages compared to traditional rivets; no special tool needed, can tie surfaces that aren't close together.

For other languages you could just use their word for rivet, if "rivet" offends them.

Naming issues...
Suzuki Alto: "Stop!" in Portuguese
Fiat Croma (leading brand of baking fat)
the Smart car ("Anguish" in Dutch)
Toyota MR2 pronounces like "emmerdeux" in French, suspicially similar to "merde": $h!t...

Google is your friend. If you see your aspiring brand name is predominantly used in shady webforums to describe local politicians in your target market, you know you would need a rethink.

It means the same in Spanish.

I would pay 5 ($6.55us) for 10 plugs. I don't think I could use 100 plugs but I could be wrong after using them. I would probably order 20 plugs so I will have a few extra.

So I would price them ~8eur for 20 plugs.

Thanks for comment. Different batch sizes is also a possibility in longer run, but will have to investigate those shipping costs more. Postal stamps does not cost so much, but it takes same amount of work/time to ship 20 vs 100 plugs.

I agree with Phantom on the pricing. That seems like a fair price to me.

The first name that came to my mind was ZipPlug. I dunno if anyone else likes it as much as me :D.

I just put coroplast covers on my wheels this past weekend and I'll tell you, THOSE would have been nice to have.
