Flux Hybrids

I would like to bring some attention to Flux Hybrids. They can retrofit cars with an electric motor for huge efficiency gains (as reported on their website). They report an average of 100% increase in combined mpg. The cost of an HEV kit with installation is estimated to be about $10k. They have a PHEV kit that costs a little bit more.

I also like that they are pretty good about responding to my text messages.

Interesting because the cost to DIY mod the ranger was $20k, not including having the ranger to start with.

I want to see their F250 diesel get 32mpg highway with their HEV installed.

This reminds me of the overly optimistic engineering project pitches the students always give at the beginning of the year.

How does it work? Is the electric drive unit dettached from the ICE, turning a 2WD ICE-only into 4WD in the process of becoming a hybrid?

It attaches to the drivetrain to take advantage of gearing.

For this reason it doesnt require a large battery.

How does gearing affect battery size? I could see cable thickness.

Made me look. www.fluxhybrids.com/consumer shows a Porsche 911. But when you click on HEV or PHEV PDF it takes you back to a ladder-frame truck. A very shallow website.

Can anyone find a 901 5-speed that has an integrated electric motor? The picture shows enough batteries (a whole frunk full) for a pure EV.

This looks like a belt driven system that turns the engine to reduce load when driving with full battery and then it will charge battery, I seen something like this on a video where this was installed into a classic Chevy of the 50-60's era

In one of my calls with them I think they said it mounts to the back of the transmission and spins the driveshaft.

So pickups and pre-1980’s cars

Hence the photos of trucks and collector cars

FWD conversion won’t happen
