This is my data sheet for a 1,000 mile plus run between refueling for our Ford C Max Energi which has a 20 mile range on electric drive only. In it I compare the ICE and the EV efficiencies, then at the end I report on the system using 1/3 ICE and 2/3rds EV.

1,011.6 miles 671.4 EV mi 66.37% 340.2 ICE mi
104.7 mpg 162 kWh 199.26 kWh 6.079 gals-e
(97.62 mpg actual gasoline 10.362 gals/April 11th, 2017)
10.362 gals + 6.079 gals e = 16.411 total system gallons
EV 671.4 ev / 6.079 gals ev = 110.445 mpg ev
ICE 340.2 ice / 10.362 gals = 32.831 mpg ice
PHEV 1011.6/16.441 gals e = 61.53 system mpg e

1,000/663.7=1.5067 x 6.008=9.052 g-e = 1.01236 MBTU

So here's the Numbers: 931 miles, 656 EV miles(70% EV), 13.7 gal. and 68 mpg.:)

I am noticing the Garage Fuel logs produce Kwh and watts per mile, but when I did the math it looks like they are using 33.7 kWh for a gallon of gasoline. While that may be a figure reported for gasoline it is not true for E-85 gasoline which is predominantly what is available here in southern New Mexico. E-85 gasoline has 111,836 BTU's per gallon which is equal to 32.777 kWh. I would have to use a .9726 multiplier to adjust the figures in the gas logs for kWh's and watts per mile.

Pretty sure you mean E-15.

Strange, I never noticed E-85 as standard and won't use it. I use Premium 91-93 octane which improves MPGs. Stopped in Los Cruses, NM Loves station last year and I don't remember them having E-85.

Yes your right E-15 which is 85% gasoline. If the manufacture recommends 87 octane then that is good enough for me. This gasoline is rated at 111,836 but per gallon.

Minimum octane for CMAX is 87, max ethanol % is 15 and regular in NM is 86 octane:(, I use Premium 93-91 octane.

I can get 87 octane at Valero stations here. Paying 40 or more cents for premium gas makes no sense to me when there is no real benefit. This is all Ford recommends so it will do. Because of our higher elevation 86 octane is actually okay.

Premium is worth 1-2 mpg for me, not quite worth the extra cost, but I like the extra range:) I also have 2016 F150XLT SC 4x4 2.7L EB with 23.3 mpg mostly HWY 15k mi., with 36gal tank, I use regular.:)
