Forever electric vehicle
ok its now deleted sry
|
basically an electric car that is recharged through windpower
Im a little skeptical as I could have sworn ive read that this cant be done |
It violates the laws of physics, actually. The fans contribute to the overall CD of the vehicle, increasing wind drag. They in turn do not produce enough energy to even keep the car moving. Perhaps if you lived in Tornado Alley they would recharge the batteries while you're stopped, but while moving, it's useless.

oh I see, oh well, I'll remove this.

Great idea though. When a vehicle is parked, a vertical charging "twistee" (not a fan) could be raised like a periscope. That "twistee" is built only for wind movement and not wind speed. That would be a really neat way to charge when solar chargers cannot be used. Probably impractical, but that would make a lot of sense in a town like mine with only 1 charging station and about 20 electric vehicles!

what about a lightweight (collapsible) windmill with a suction cup base that you stick on your car to recharge http://www.traderscity.com/board/use...windmill-2.jpg |
Of course the fan that recharges as you drive won't work, but the basic idea is not totally impossible. Look at landsailers, which can get up to 110 mph or more in good wind conditions. So you have a telescoping airfoil that you raise when the relative wind will let you extract energy. There are some stretches of road around here where it would work great. The roads are north-south, and in the afternoons there'll be a ~50 mph crosswind coming down off the mountains...

wait so do you guys want me to put the video up again?

This
Helix Wind is just an example of the type of wind charger that would not be risky by sticking out and pretty much work on a breeze. We had a similar product being discussed at an alternative energy meeting here, but it was in massive scale. |
