Ed Roth used this method in the 1950s, using plaster instead of foam.

Rutan has been advocating that for the last 50 years. It was how you built an EzE variant. It's also why every version of EzE flew differently.

My uncle constructed one, but from what I saw, the blue foam remained captured inside the wet-layup of glass-epoxy.
