What's happening??
Newbie here, drive a diesel Excursion... My apologies. My wife is a traveling nurse and we live in our camper and move every 13 weeks. I home school our daughter and try to pick up odd jobs here and there. Love this site and trying to learn a bit. I have been getting around 16mpg in mixed driving and maybe 11 towing. Anyway just stopping by to say hello!! |
Welcome to Ecomodder!
That sounds like a fun project, I'm sure a few of our "big truck" guys could give you some pointers. |
Welcome!
What year is your Excursion? What mods have you done? What mods are you interested in? |

I would love me some gear vendors but gotta save a few bucks for that and after that i'm not sure. Our travel trailer weighs about 8000k so I gotta take egts and fluid temps into consideration. |

What advantages/disadbantags do you see with doing it with a large tow vehicle and trailer vs small towed vehicle with an RV. |

I am curious why you chose a large tow rig with a trailer, vs a RV pulling a car/small SUV. I imagine the mileage difference driving an RV vs your excursion pulling a trailer would be negligible. Does the trailer offer better living space vs having to house engine and drive train as well as driver seat in the same box as living space? |
An RV can be quite overkill comparing to a trailer due to the beefier structure required, and also harder to manage the appliances and comfort features due to space availability. Unless it was based in a low-floor rear-engined frame which could allow a more aerodynamic profile.

The travel trailer has a rear bunkhouse for our daughter, we already owned the Excursion I used cor my construction business. Decent class A's nice enough to full time in are WAY out of our price range. Maybe one day when our daughter is on her own.

We too have a PowerStroke Excursion and tow a 30' travel trailer with the quad bunks in the rear. It is 15f today, so i have been waiting for our weather to warm up a bit for me to start the Kammback for the Travel trailer. We use ours a lot and usually camp an average of 50 days a year. Every couple of years we head to our favorite family camping area, the beautiful Oregon Coast and this year again. I have already bought some Coroplast and have been following a couple of threads on Areo-Mods. I'll be making something for the top of the Excursion as well and a front airdam, smooth underpan and a large Kammback for the Trailer as in Aero RV.... Good Luck with yours!
