Garage rules on acounting for fuel usage

I was going to leave this here, but that thread devolved into a shouting match and was locked. The guy's garage entries are hilarious, especially the vehicle descriptions. So, anyway--the Volt sitting at #1 on the Top Ten Hybrid list for a few weeks now shows an I-assume-inadvertent 20,700mpg. Impressive, but I think there was a wall plug involved there somewhere....

Yep. I'm not ignoring messages on this (there've been a few).

A workaround is definitely on the list. I blame a nasty combination of ingrained laziness plus too much on the list in the first place.

That link was a funny read!

Fuel logs are only as good as the info going into them. I always gas up at the same time in the morning, at the same gas station at the same pump, stop at the first click, and round to the second decimal. I take pics of the mileage, the gas price and total gas pumped and enter them when I get to work.

I keep a "cost of ownership per mile" spreadsheet, but that one's harder to feel good about. It gets better every tank, but the initial outlay makes the first thousands of miles pretty expensive!

Maybe it's time for a separate list for plug-in hybrids? Sometimes I think the 1st gen Insight could be in its own group too. It's really in a class of its own anyway, and can be driven as a hybrid or non-hybrid.
