Saturn SC2 Ideas, input wanted

Okay, so sort of looking at maybe doing a boat tail'esque thing to my saturn and wanted input ideas, and maybe some help. Let me first say that I SUCK at paint and photo editing, so any help there would be good.

So, I'm looking at pics of the EV1 and looking at the back of my saturn coupe...here's what I came up with on the first go at it...maybe a sawzall, a 12 pack of coors, and a weekend...or two...

Thoughts, input, talk me out of it...

It might be a good project to just remove the trunk lid and modify it for the angle you want. Generally though, the angle you are looking at might be too steep to keep low drag airflow going. I usually go to tirerack.com for a good side view of a car. Put the vehicle info in and look for wheels. On the first set hit 'view on vehicle'.

Here's a nice side view to work with (from tirerack, just like SlideWRX says) :

Here is aerohead's overlay applied to the SC2 :

From the above image, I think your proposed downslope is too steep.

Soooooooo, I am talking you out of it.

Well dang...It looked good in concept...

But facts don't lie! Maybe I'll stick with a belly pan and/or airdam and grill blocking. Probably more extensive work than I wanted to do anyhow, it's my daily driver.

Thanks for the input guys!

Can you remove the spoiler on the trunk? I'd be interested to see if that helps. The overlay tries to keep things very smooth, but there is still benefit to trying to hit about a 15(ish) degree angle on the back of the car, even without the excessively smooth transition.

I think he could use a "duck spoiler" to touch the slope of the overlay. However, that would cost rear visibility.

Spoiler

Not sure if it's removable, I think it may be, but then you have the fender potions next to it, kind of molded to meet up with it.

I'm not sure what a "duck spoiler" is, can you show me a pic of what you mean?

I do have a sunroof, it's no longer functional...could be a good mounting point for some sort of roof slope...like a kammaback(sp?) for the hatch back cars. I would be interested to see some examples of coupes with rear mods...

Hmmmmm. Maybe it is harder to remove the spoiler. The 3rd-gen SC's have a more integrated spoiler than the 2nd-gen.

Here are some "duck spoilers" or "duck bill wings" :

The idea is that the spoiler angles up to meet the slope of the overlay.

Your existsing spoiler could become the mounting point for a home-made duck bill, or "whatever" meets the slope. If I had your car, these are spoilers I would be considering :

But don't take my word for it. Let others chime in.
