GM & Chrysler Announce CNG/Gasoline Bi-Fuel Pickups
Light & Medium Truck | GM Adds Bi-Fuel Pickups
Light & Medium Truck | Ram Adds Bi-Fuel Truck Both GM and Chrysler announced this week that they will be selling bi-fuel pickups that will run on both CNG & gasoline (see links above). Ironically, the Chrysler announcement claims they're the fisrt manufacturer to do this...and their announcement came out 1 day after GM. |
Way too many years over due.

Overdue, but not much good outside of metro areas given the dearth of CNG re-fuel facilities across the U.S. Mainly good for regional fleets it looks like. I'd rather have increased diesel tankage for that price increase (as an individual, not as a fleet operator). This is mainly a tax advantage buy, an artificial prop, not the harbinger of things to come. The key to this is about access to fuel, not the fuel itself. Subsidization.

New Mexico tried mandating dual fuel several years ago for the state vehicles. But didn't install very many refueling stations so we wound up with all of the cost of aftermarket conversions and none of the benifits.
This one might be a step, or it might be a miss-step, time will tell. It would be nice to be able to refuel at my own house though. |
if we had compressors, we could fuel our own cars with cheap natural gas already delivered to our houses.
