Got a new hypermiler.

You guys might remember me form my thread about my Chevy Colorado:
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...-my-14434.html

Well, I recently sold that to a friend of mine who needed a 4WD truck
more than I do, plus my kids hated riding anywhere in those small rear jumper seats in the ext-cab. So, with the money from that sale, I bought a 2006 Chevy HHR 2LT:

I've always loved these cars and this one is loaded with nearly everything, including leather seats...and it cost the same price as what I sold my truck for. (What a step up from the Colorado which was a base model.) I drove it home from Phoenix, AZ to NM and averaged 32.6 mpg. Since then I've aired the tires up to 40 psi and started hypermiling on my commute and my fuel-computer reads 38.6 mpg so far (w/~60 miles on the trip odometer). Hoping to break 40. The best I ever mustered with the Colorado was 30.8 mpg.

Welcome back! Pretty clean looking car. You planning any mods?

Thanks, for now, just the tires at 40 psi and using some P&G and EOC whenever it's safe to do so. Had I gotten an HHR LS with plastic wheel covers, I'd have put on some full-moon (smooth) hubcaps, but I got this 2LT for less than I could find any other HHR (whether LS, LT, 2LT or SS), so I'm not going to complain about that. I love those 17-inch wheels!

Thanks. I never thought I'd find such a pretty one for what I was looking to spend.

I have an HHR LS. I'm looking to boost the MPG as well. This past fill up I was over 32.5 MPG and didn't drive all that special. I hope to hit 35 mpg... we shall see.

Say, anyone know why my graph won't update? It still only shows one log. :(

Its updated. You just need to refresh the page.

Is yours an auto or manual? I was specifically looking for a manual because I knew I'd want to hypermile it. The autos actually have a more favorable gear ratio for mpg, but my commute is very favorable for EOC and P&G. So far, my car's computer is saying 40.5 mpg with ~210 miles on the trip odometer.

I run into this every time I enter a new record. Yeah, you just need to refresh the page as Doax stated.

Just filled up today. 626.4 miles and 14.804 gallons for 42.31 mpg. The next tank will be the real test to make sure I didn't inadvertantly short fill this one, but regardless, man, I love this car! The 2.4L Ecotec is a fabulous engine.

Filled up again yesterday: 628.6 miles, 15.057 gallons for 41.75 mpg. It's looking like the first tank wasn't a fluke (or a short fill). Hoping to eventually get 100% above the EPA combined (which would be 44 mpg). Probably not going to happen until next spring, though.

Good results for now, looking further now for more mods!
