Greetings
Hey All,
I have been lurking for a while now - and just wanted to post and say HEY. I am just completing my first full tank of trying some of the techniques outlined here - and i gotta say this is increadable. The car - 2000 Nissan Altima - 2.4 L 5 speed last tank (old way) was 22.3 MPG (EPA for the car is 23 city) I live in Atlanta 'Burbs - 12 mile commute - surface streets what have i changed? - no more fast accelorations - try to limit hard breaking - "pulse and Coast" - i am not up to EOC yet - more "relaxed" driving style - no hurry - i will get there I am looking into the scangage - but that might be a while ( just had 2nd child).... but clearly this forum is AWSOME  I found it on a LOCOST forum ( the build your own Lotus 7 car) - they had linked the AeroCivic as outside the box thinking. Anyway - Just wanted to say HEY - and i can't wait to try some of the other ideas out. |
Welcome to the forums :)

Hi Doofus! (Can I call you Doofus? :D)
Glad to have you, and happy to see you've latched onto driving mods as the first way to improve your fuel economy. Depending on how hard core you want to go, that's the path to the largest gains. Congrats on munchkin #2! And as for the cost of the ScanGauge, it'll pay for itself, so the sooner, the better. Another option is to keep an eye on eBay. I saw an original ScanGauge sell for a bit more than $100 a week or so ago. |
Welcome to the site! Interested in seeing how the first tank of yours turns out. You'll be beating EPA any day now.

Doofus is fine - it is a long long... long story. and yes beer was involved at the time.
- But Steve will also work. I will update my Signature - i am sure people till be weary of calling someone Doofus I will scan eBay - based upon what i have been reading here - that is the best way to understand the impact of the changed ( as opposed to a tankfull of gas to see the impact) |
Doofus McFancypants -
Welcome to EM! I think you win the award for coolest handle so far. I am looking forward to what you can do with the Altima. CarloSW2 |
Welcome to Ecomodders, Steve. I do have to admit I like your handle. I don't know exactly why, but it seems to touch on a few humor bones, or something.
What you really need to do is find some way to harness the kids, to make use of their boundless energy, to ecomod your car. |
Too bad we couldn't take the energy out of kids when they're bouncing off the walls to calm them down to normal, and harness that energy to power our homes, cars, lawnmowers, etc... If we could do this I'd suck the bouncing energy from my step-brother right off the bat!
