Hello! I go by HaPPI.
The condensed version of me: I am a Christian, husband of 1, father of 1, computer programmer (VB.NET, before that Fox), I drive a 2007 Prius, my better half drives a 2004 Echo, I hope soon to be riding a Kymco scooter (on order), I converted a cycle to EV (recipe: take Yamaha 185 Exciter, remove noisy/smelly parts, add Etek, Curtis controller, 3 WalMart trolling batts, handbuilt sidecar and stir for several months), I make stuff - a lot of home repair/remodeling but some fun stuff too, LED flashlight fan, drummer, Photovoltaic, Thermovoltaic and wind turbine wannabe, and of course, Ecomodder.com NooB. Anyone use Molybdenum DiSulfide or Tungsten DiSulfide as a super-lubricating oil additive? My dad discovered a product called AutoMoly back in the 80s and it seemed to work well. I used Slick 50 until they stopped putting PTFE in it. I found a couple sites that sell MoS2 and WS2. rosemill.com lowerfriction.com Any positive or negative personal experience with either the compounds or these companies? Glad to be with ya HaPPI :) |

Enjoy the site -- it looks like you have a good start. It really looks like Ohio is joining the ranks! I'm from Barberton originally (next door there), lived in Wadsworth for a while. Definitely look into the meetup -- it sounds like a great opportunity. I'd combine a visit to my folks and up to Andover, but work beckons. Anyhoo, keep up posted on your mods and... Back to your question, my first thoughts for mobile thermovoltaic are the ceramic solid state devices that are currently out there such as CPU coolers and plug in coolers, and then Sterling cycle generators which are still bulky and heavy for what they produce. I doubt either would generate enough to replace an alternator. I put much more hope in thin film PV. HaPPI :) |
