Some EM birthday type factoids:

1) Yes, I actually made the cake. Not too much cake making experience, so it took two tries. Store bought mix, home made icing. (Yes, I screwed up store-bought cake mix. Insert Ingredient A into Slot B... sheesh.)

2) The very first public post made after the forum went "live" on Dec. 3, 2007 to the whole interwires was post #3 in this thread:
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea....html#post1263

(The thread itself was started by Ben before the site was actually open. The actual very first post -- #1 in the database -- was made in the moderators special secret area on November 15, 2007 -- EM's "unofficial birthday".)
4) The first thread started by someone other than an admin/moderator after launch was, appropriately:

Wow, I didn't even realize... shame on me.

I don't think a birthday spanking would be appropriate? (Who's going to pay for the stripper???)

And who made that cake? That thing is sexy!

MetroMPG 12-02-2009 11:16 PM

The cake is MINE! (See post #2, updated.)

Not to take away from the magic, but it's already been eaten. It served as stunt double cake for my sister & brother's birthday party a week ago. (They're old enough to not care about the EM logo. Or they suffered from chocolate blindness.)

Darin - Don't feel bad about screwing up store bought cake mix... my wife threw holy hell of a tantrum while she was pregnant for my Son, when she tried to make a cake and listened to her mother about what size of dish to use...

She used a dish too small, and the cake overflowed before it was done baking in the middle. She got upset, took it out until it calmed down, and started yelling and crying about her cake and how horrible her day was. I promptly told her to calm down, and go buy another box of cake mix from the store next door, and I'd help her do it correctly.

Meanwhile, her mother, not understanding that her daughter was having a hormone day, put the unfinished cake back into the oven to finish baking, assuming that she'd still eat it. When Sheena got back from the store, she noticed the cake in the oven again, and started freaking out about "the crater" being back in the oven when she obviously didn't want it.

Man, I'm glad she's not pregnant anymore.

Great job on the second try, though. Excellent frosting work, my friend.

That's EXACTLY how it happened to me the first time. Hormones and everything!

Did you cry uncontrollably for 3 hours until the situation was sorted out and the second cake was edible, then completely calm down after getting/eating a piece, and you were just as happy as could be the rest of the night?
