HCHII Wheel Skirts
 

Been lurking around on this site for awhile... figured it is time to get off my butt and do something. SOOOO...... I bought some coroplast, metal, a few screws, and built some wheel skirts for "Old Blue". Haven't had a chance to conduct ABA tests but will soon and post results here.

Future mods in the near future: Undertray and improve leading/trailing airdams in front and behind tires.

Nice job! Did drilled into the metal? When I did my temporary wheel skirts it was hard attaching them without drilling into any metal. Next time it I'll probably do small holes in inconspicuous places.

Yes, I did end up drilling each mount point after good cleaning, drying, and then applying rustoleum as the screws went in. #10 3/8" automotive screws went just inside the lip of the fender well and secured with fast clips.

I tried several methods to avoid drilling but couldn't come up with a reliable spring clip that would withstand more than 10lbs of push/pull or rattle. Figured it just wasn't worth the risk of losing the skirts on the highway (doh!). The front fender will be a little more challenging but that's part of the fun!

Looks pretty good. Will you paint it to match the car?

Have a screwdriver onboard for tire changes. Noticed the bandaid on index finger;)

Thanks for the comments. If these mods produce a measurable increase, I plan to mold some fiberglass skirts that will be a little more sturdy and blended with the car body lines (more factory-like appearance). IF..... if I ever get to that point, they will be painted to match.

That "battle scar" was the result of mishandling / not paying attention to the razor blade as I was cutting the coroplast. Could've been much worse... and yes, always carry a multi-tool onboard just in case the panels need to come off. Only takes about a minute... definitely something to remove in the event of a snow event.
