hey y'all

I've been alternating from riding a bike all the time to driving. I used to be a bike courier/delivery guy. Unfortunately, now I have to (reverse) commute about 12-15mi one way.

I drive a 98 Civic LX. Just got it, and it has 39k miles :O Before that I had a 92 Accord EX. Great car, smooth, comfy, sunroof, ABS. Still around, its my gf's now, 165k and running fine. :D I also have a 92 Isuzu pickup that flooded a little from Katrina, but I got it running again. It's strictly a hauler, unless I need to drive though a flood, it's got 30" tires :D

I'm a mechanical / materials engineer, so I'll be posting lots of nerdy stuff. I'm planning on getting a Scangauge and using my 1337 Excel skills to collect and analyze lots of data. Right now I'm just trying to get a baseline fro the car.

I'm rebuilding a house (have been for 9 months) so that's taking all of my time, energy, and money :o

Welcome to the site! You definitely sound like our type, already, :)

Hoping to see some good data and possibly some interesting tests? :D

The SG is an investment you won't regret.

And that sound you hear? It's fellow nerds gleefully rubbing their hands together in anticipation of impending quality data.

I read somewhere recently that something like 1 in 4 Americans' families was affected by Katrina. Even my small Ontario city received a "refugee" family in the aftermath.

Anyway, welcome to the site.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

As promised, some dorkiness. A quick & drrty fuel cost vs MPG chart. Shows just how bad that 15/20 MPG can get.

What floors me is people I work with who spend $300/month commuting. All of that time and money wasted...

The pseduo-evil laugh on my end probably gave it away... "Moo-hoo-ha-HA-HAaaa".

BTW, Welcome -- great chart!
