Fresh off Honda Powersports new CTX models (CTX stands for comfort, technology, and experience); which has been in large part a mostly unsuccessful line of products for N. America and a few other markets; HPS has come up with another great product line idea that will be mostly ignored and/or made fun of by enthusiasts and media outlets on this continent.

Introducing the first in a line of Honda PTW pickups; the CTP700SB. A 1.25'WX2L'X.75H pickup box that, unlike no other current pickup manufactured for sale in N America, this one quickly folds down to a flat bed, making it more useful for more tasks. And since the box sits directly on the pillion seat, it has payload capability over 250 pounds, and the box itself is rated at over 900 pounds meaning this little box can handle a load. And the rider gets all this utility for the solo commuter and/or handyman vehicle owner and up to 75 mpg, real world, in a mid-size 100+ mph mc.

Watch in the near future for a long bed and also a 2UP-capable pickup bike as HPS will integrate the long wheel base NM4 to get the length needed for a crew cab. According to HPS officials, we'll soon even have a dump bed available with a NC700X-style pickup; the bed will be hinged and dump-able in order to provide this added function and to access the filler cap, which is, of course under the pillion seat on this particular model:)

That box sees more use- more stuff put in it, more often- than that of most 1/2 ton pickups.

You're right! I'm guilty myself. Sometimes I'll put the lunch box in the F150 bed just so's I feel like I'm making use of the 6.5' bed.

But Honda PS recommends not hauling lumber longer than 4' even with a red flag stapled to the end and the tailgate down. So I guess I still really need my 4-wheel pickup now and then. Bummer! Maybe I should wait for the long bed with a slightly lower payload capacity or "go big" and get the .25-ton long bed with the 1000 cc motor that's currently in the African Twin. It's a decision I'll have to make when the other versions come out, as most times, the .125-ton is plenty of pickup for 90% of my uses:).

Kinda depends on what you're hauling. 4x8 sheets of plywood, sheetrock, &c? Maybe. A load of logs for firewood or half a dozen bales of hay? I don't think so... :-)

One time I had my '84 Tempo loaded up with 4 large adults AND about 1000 lbs of stuff, including a rooftop TV antenna! :eek: That poor thing was nearly bottomed out. I joked to them that this is how it usually goes- 2000 lbs packed into the car, or take the pickup and have it be empty. :/

I had a paper route with my Prelude. I had 250 logs on Sunday and I stopped to see what the terrible sound was when I started to drive off. I got out and wondered why the ground was so high.

My car was bottoming out on level ground.

Just 153-pound me and 250 Sunday newspapers.

I made two trips my five other Sundays--and lost money.

Then my clutch went out, I could not find a rental, called my manager to let her know my car broke down, rode my mechanic's wife's bike with a tire that kept going flat, which I stopped to inflate a couple of times during the nine-mile ride each way, pre-folded everything, and they fired me when I did not show up.

Apparently, I did not do enough, after that job broke my car.

That is why we sold flat bead trailers at the Case IH dealership-to haul bulldozers to the job site.
