Bought a 96 civic dx to be my dd. My mazdaspeed 3 is lucky to get 15+ when I'm hard on it. Over 400whp never lends itself to responsible driving to get the best gas mileage.

The civic had 250k on it when I bought it, and a few thousand miles later was misfiring to hell. Was getting like <30mpg at that point.

Compression across cylinders was 145-70-85-145. So instead of trying to repair the engine that leaked oil from every orifice the exhaust, i found a newer one with 42k miles on it.

So hopefully it now lasts with a owner who will take care of it.

True, but I do miss some of the aspects of tuning the mazda. Since I already had the software for tuning for power, it was so easy to dial in lean burn on the mazda and get low 30's highway mpg.

Getting rid of the cracked manifold and new 02 sensor should help a little bit. Plus I saved like 5 pounds.
