How To: Kill switch, 02 TDI Jetta
rigged to fuel cutoff solenoid valve, located on top of IP. it's just a switch to short circuit the electrical feed line, not allowing fuel to pass, thus killing engine.
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...pscpubijuz.jpg no wires cut, to go stock if wanted. ......original wire is connected to new wire with small bolt, heat shrink with double wall tubing(water proof). http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...psl4l8n9ta.jpg fed through engine compartment, zip tied, fed down to door opening. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...pserskzq0i.jpg ran wires to cabin, through grommet, under dash, to shifter. **pic to follow** zip tied to shifter for now. can build a mount from aluminum to bolt on later. push to kill, pull to energize. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...psbabsc8xb.jpg momentary switch used wasn't to my liking. didn't like to have keep pressing switch, esp while coasting, turning, braking, etc... have left it off a few times, try to bump or key start and get a half second of a start but no more. if it was hidden would make a great theft deterrent but I look at it as who would want to, really. next would be a starter button on shifter. that would be a momentary switch. I will get other pics when I get a chance. hope this wasn't a bunch of mumbo jumbo and made a little sense. |
Makes sense to me. I'll be watching your mpg. FWIW I DFCO coast in gear and E-on coast in neutral but don't bother trying to kill the engine on my glide phases.

Where does the other end of the switch go? You switch the IP contact to ground?

I see, you just open the connection to the IP, that makes more sense. Thanks for posting this.
