How much did you REALLY save with Ecomodding in 2014?

While I was organizing my 2014 expenses for my tax returns, I decided to see how much I REALLY saved from ecomodding.

Money saved vs EPA in 2014: $888.94
Ecomodding related expenses: ($739.19)
Total saved with Ecomodding in 2014: $149.75

I admit, I did go a bit overboard with ecomodding supplies this year building my "Almost OEM" Upper and lower grill blocks and my Underbelly tray version 2.0 with rear diffuser and new power tools.

How did the rest of you do last year?

I spent almost nothing.
The Green Oil cost the same as the 5W30 from the oil barrel (I let Honda do my maintenance). Now that it gets freezing cold I can see the benefit, finally. Cold starts are less punishing.
Let them free up and clean my brakes, that set me back some 55 € or so. Was worth it, or so I hope.
Got me some replacement LEDs, all peanuts.
A few bucks on 3M foam tape.

Then I don't really do much better than last year, which still is a lot better than EPA.
The wheelnut adjustment and aired up tires are the biggest contributors and they were free.

Hard to say. The biggest chunk of savings came from not driving in the first place- put on very few miles.

Same here, 2015 should be a good year in savings for me because i've started taking the train to work.

I only put on 15miles a day on my car (drive to train station and back). Before, it would be 100 miles daily commute

Most importantly, i am saving my SANITY for not being stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours each day!

All in all, I feel like I made out like a bandit in 2014! I did kick out three grand to buy Turtle in 2014, but . . . .

I paid cash, and it was cash I had already saved as a direct result of driving Black Widow for two years! That boxy little Festiva literally saved me enough money between 2012 and 2014 to buy myself an Ecomodder's dream car outright!

* I found a huge plastic bowl of change under the seat.
** I think I included almost everything.
*** I drive co workers home / to work for $1 a day each. 3 or 4 dudes daily.

Now everything I have actually bought for the car was using amazon gift cards I earned from a few cheap android phones running Perk Tv. so I think I'm actually ahead....

Now add a few more $$ to that as I am replacing wheel bearings and tie rod ends.
And the ecomodding should increase now I have my finances in order.

Learning how to do more with less...

Well, in the few months I had my insight last year(I still have it obv) , I have to compare it to 30mpg as thsts what's what I got in my camry. I figure I saved about 300-400$ in the 3 months I drove it last year. No idea what the EPA is, but I averaged like 29-31 in the camry, but I'm sure that was over EPA.

I will admit, I don't even care about the gas savings, as all the money I'm saving it going into my Mustang.

So you don't care to have extra money to put into the mustang?

Most of what I saved last year was from selling the fiesta and truck and buying the sentra and the $175 trailer. At first the Sentra was a penny a mile more, than the fiesta, then gas prices took a dive, now the Sentra is about 5.5 cents a mile, but as Frank posted, my miles driven have dropped a lot since my last birthday #64 in November.

I don't know how much I've saved. I bought a Scanguage E and that has made me very conscious of how I drive. My wife drives a 99 Avalon, 296,000 + miles, 20? mpg. I drive a 2001 Chevrolet 3500 dually, (6.0 4L80E) 15 mpg; and a 1992 Camry 30 mpg that has 200,000 miles. I have some mods planned for the dually and the Camry. When I start the mods, I'll document and post. I have the Scanguage E in the truck, and I got an MPGuino to put in the Camry. I would like to get the truck up to 20 mpg and the Camry to 40.
