They have quite a way to go to catch human powered vehicles.

The sun is so diffuse you compromise your aerodynamics to gather power. Without such compromises, you can achieve 198 Watts of drag force at freeway speeds - which any good athlete can provide.

I'd like to see a metabolic 'well-to-wheels' energy breakdown for Battle Mountain, compared to the 'fusion'-powered book keeping on the solar racers.
CAR and DRIVER has done vehicle performance comparisons based upon Big Macs as the energy supply. A little different take.
