How much weight can ChrisFix remove from a BMW?

Removing weight is more of a racing thing.
Since every 100 lb you remove is worth like a half mpg. |

Especialy in lighter vehicles it can make quite a difference... |
Huh. I swear that we always tell people "For every 10% weight reduction you increase fuel economy 5%." That means that if you reduce your weight 100% you only increase MPG 50%! :D
However, when I looked up Aerohead he said: Quote:
What does Jules Verne say? 69 vehicle mods for better fuel economy says The EPA estimates that an extra 100 lbs can mean a 1-2% increase in fuel consumption, with smaller vehicles affected more than larger ones. Nissan is aiming to reduce vehicle weight 15% (from 2005 models) by 2015. They say that will yield a 10% drop in fuel consumption. We can A-B-A test a run with a 100-pound weight reduction. Maybe your passenger and back seats weigh that much, but I have hardly had my passenger seat in my car since my brother walked on the roof. Do you know what would be an easier test? :) A-B-A test extra weight! :D Of course, you would also be adjusting the ride height... |
Lol! It looks so easy in Chris' video :)
I'm reducing weight by few grams each month:D The trick is to identify what you really need to remove in your car to keep it usable outside of the track... |
I tried to buy a parts car, but they said cash only, and my nearest ATM is a couple of hours away.
They didn't want payment through any method developed in the last fifty years, so I didn't get the car, but he pointed out what he called a motor mount for the v6. What other differences between the two engines leaves unnecessary weight? Is this true with other makes and models? |
If I found a buyer for one of my fleet, I'd accept cash, or they can stand in line with me at the teller at my credit union. They can use any method the credit union will accept. I'd hand over the title and key in the parking lot and walk to the bus stop.
I can't tell from the thumbnail, did he remove the window winders? Is the glass still there? In another thread, I suggested an alternative: forums.pelicanparts.com: Leather window pulls on a 911? Of course, your Youtube guy isn't after streetability, is he? |

When I tried to buy another parts car I tried to open an account at the friendly neighborhood credit union and they insisted that I didn't want to open an account.
Apparently she just didn't want to do a little paperwork. The windows still work and they require you keep the door panels, but you will love this--he deleted the sunroof! :) https://ecomodder.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1623029102 He went from 3,370 pounds, 6.77 seconds 0-60, and a braking distance of 170 feet to: 2,940 pounds, 5.97 seconds, and 140 feet. He lost 14.6% and it accelerated 13.4% faster. It braked 21.4% faster, but he thought that was partially from embedding the brakes. |
The current union has me because they inherited me when the previous credit union when under, likely from too much embezzlement to pass state inspection.
Thnx for the TLDV. |
