How to recycle smashed solar panels.

Its actually pretty easy.
Get some smashed solar panels, some wire cutters and a rock or something to bash the frames off.
First I'd say cut the wire with MC4 connectors off.

Bash the aluminum frames off with a hammer, rock ect.

Throw the frameless, now wireless solar panels in the back of your pickup truck.

Weigh the loot.

Drive into town and stuff the shattered glass plus backing into a dumpster.

Mission accomplished, world saved.

Back in ye olde times people would resell broken panels and broken pieces from panels.

If the panel was “smashed “ but not water damaged you would
1. Heat the panel up to ensure it’s totally dry
2. Test its output (if it still puts out significant voltage and current)
2a) There used to be supplies to “build your own” panels and you would reseal,

sometimes its output wasn’t much different .

Output was half to 2/3 less than the original output. Plus they had gotten soaked. After the hail it rained hard for an hour.

You can buy degraded panels for like 20 to 30 cents a watt. Selling a degraded for $40 each is a lot more than they'll get for them trying to recycle them.

Recycling smashed solar panels involves several steps to ensure that valuable materials are recovered and hazardous substances are handled safely. First, it's essential to contact a certified e-waste recycling facility that specializes in solar panel recycling. They can safely disassemble the panels and separate components like glass, metals, and silicon. Some facilities may also offer take-back programs for damaged panels. It's crucial to ensure that any hazardous materials, like cadmium or lead found in certain types of panels, are disposed of properly. Additionally, consider reaching out to the manufacturer for guidance, as they often have established recycling protocols.

The reality is it will likely involve a hammer and a dumpster.
