How to Setup Ecomodder Mileage MPG image in Your Signature

3 Attachment(s)
The current how to thread seems out-dated, so I figured I could make a new/updated one and try to make it a little simpler. Please note, if you have under 5 posts, you won't be able to have the link on your sig, but the image should work fine.

At the top of the site click the Garage link (red box in photo)

http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...4&d=1331533431

Click the view button next to your vehical

http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...3&d=1331533382

Note down your vehicleid number

http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...5&d=1331533442

Go to the User CP and click Edit Signature

Copy and Paste the below text and edit the two spots 9999 shows up to what you saved earlier

HTML Code:

[url=http://ecomodder.com/forum/em-fuel-log.php?vehicleid=9999]
[img]http://ecomodder.com/forum/fe-graphs/sig9999a.png[/img][/url]

*** New Members with under 5 posts use this ***

HTML Code:

[img]http://ecomodder.com/forum/fe-graphs/sig9999a.png[/img]

Preview it and if it shows up right then save it!

This should work for other forum sites that use BBcode as well.

Try this:

HTML Code:

[img]http://ecomodder.com/forum/fe-graphs/sig5578a.png[/img][/url]

The 'a' at the end of the sig name is required, and I'm guessing that is what most people will have trouble with. Format is sigXXXXa.png

ajjct 03-13-2012 06:58 AM

ok think i got it. OK it did work, thanks for the help.

redorchestra 03-13-2012 12:07 PM

is the re a minimum post count? my preview is right but it doesn't show in forum!

redorchestra 03-13-2012 12:08 PM

I guess I got it!

Rango318 04-11-2012 12:09 AM

no matter which way i try to set up my sig, it just gives me an "invalid file" error. I tried with the "a", without it. I tried the old post of how to do this, and the new.

I also noticed there is a space between the [/img] and the [/url] on both examples above. I also tried it both ways still with the same result.

ps2fixer 04-11-2012 02:24 AM

reb01501 04-11-2012 10:19 AM

So do I have to use this site's fuel log to update the sig? I've been using fuelly.com - can I import the data from there instead?

ps2fixer 04-11-2012 10:26 AM

I never personally used fuelly, but if the sig they have is like ours, you can use it on any site. The main thing is to get the correct image link and put the [ img ] brackets around the link. The [url] bracket is to make it link to your fuel log page. If you can't get it, pm me your profile on fuelly and I'll see what I can do with it.

reb01501 04-11-2012 10:35 AM

Yes, that works, thanks

Rango318 04-11-2012 12:09 PM

I'm not sure whats going on ps2fixer. I tried the links you left, which obviously work because you are showing my sigs, but it still just tells me Invalid File.

I also tried using a different browser. I am on google chrome usually, and I tried using IE with the same result.

Update: I also tried to update my sig on Dodgeforum and it gave me the same error, but their site is set up the same was is Ecomodder

Update again: If i use just the Img URL, it worked on Dodgeforum, but this site says the remote file is to large.

Flakbadger 04-11-2012 02:07 PM

I get told "Sorry, new users are not permitted to post links in their signatures," but I'm not going to create a thread just to get the fuel badge in my sig.

EDIT: Derp! I fixed it.

Rango318 04-11-2012 02:43 PM

Wow, I am a moron. Thanks guys. I am getting the same problem as FlakBadger, but I'm sure i'll figure that one out soon enough. Probably just have not posted enough times.

Daox 04-11-2012 02:47 PM

I believe you need 5 posts before you're allowed a signature.

Rango318 04-11-2012 02:50 PM

OK. Thanks. That shouldn't be to hard. I believe this one make 4, then I will go comment on a few others I have been meaning to get to.

honda_love 04-20-2012 09:21 PM

thank you

JacSmith 07-05-2012 01:42 AM

Thank you for the info. gotta try it now. :)

williamscao 11-11-2012 08:12 AM

very helpful post.

ps2fixer 11-11-2012 08:58 AM

Updated the guide a little for newer members with under 5 posts.

@ everyone that thanked me

Not a problem :).

AndrewH. 11-15-2012 03:04 PM

sweet thanks.

EcoboosterQ 06-02-2013 04:33 PM

Same here, - only 3 posts - no link allowed in sig... have to post more.

EcoboosterQ 06-02-2013 04:34 PM

And I used the 'Less than 5 posts' version but still same message.

wmjinman 06-02-2013 06:58 PM

Just followed the instructions & did mine, too. Thanx a million!

I noticed some guys have the MPG bar graphs in the sig, too. assuming I wanted to brag about my steady improvement with that graph, is the process similar?

Thanx, you guys rock!!
Bill

jeff88 10-04-2013 04:49 PM

Is there a way to setup 2 fuel log pics next to each other rather than one on top of the other? If you look at my sig, the pic has my two cars side by side and I would like the fuel logs to be directly underneath their respective vehicle.

Thanks!

Daox 10-04-2013 06:05 PM

set it up like this?

<car picture><mpg signature>
<car picture><mpg signature>

Seems I didn't get an email for this reply. I think this is what you're looking for.

@Jeff88

I thing the images are too wide to do that, I'm not aware of a "mini" version for the image. I think it would look nice as Daox described, image then stats.

jeff88 10-04-2013 07:53 PM

Thanks for the advice guys, I was unaware that I can do two separate pics in the sig. I will play around and see what Daox's suggestion does and try to see if I can get a little beginners luck to make something work. :p

Daox, I tried doing it this way, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I uploaded the two pics to Photobucket and then used the images code to put them in the sig, one on top of the other (like a thread post). When I tried to add the second pic, I got an error code for 500 max characters, because the code was kind of long. I switched the code around to switch the pic on top and bottom and it worked within the character movement (know idea...). Then I added in one of the two fuel logs (I had deleted one temporarily for some reason). Now it's saying:

Quote:

You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.
Your signature cannot be longer than 1000 characters including BB code markup.
From what I can tell, I have two pics and two fuel logs (considered pics) and 2 quotes, so I have the 4 max, not 5+. If I don't include the quotes, it seems to work, as if quotes are considered pics. I also can't get the pic and log next to each other like you suggest, I think it's just all too big to fit into the signature.

I tried messing around with the size of the log image. The only thing I could find online is two types of coding:

Code:

[IMG=500x100]
Code:

Neither one works to change the image size, it just displays the code, rather than the pic.

ps2fixer 10-07-2013 09:02 AM

For the too many images error, the first quote has a :D which is counted as a photo, if you removed that, it should work as how you had it setup with out issues when you had no quotes. Max length might be hit, 1000 characters isn't a lot when you have 2 full website addresses for images, 2 links, and the 2 fuel log images.

The [url] code isn't needed, but it is kind of nice to be able to click the fuel log and be able to see the details.

jeff88 10-07-2013 10:15 PM

So I got the max images to work, no problem. I was able to get under the max characters. I was at 1,005 , but what I did was I added the Photobucket code in, but instead of having the link and the pic coding, I left the link and added the pic as a [sigpic]. By doing that, I had the exact same pic, with waaaaay less characters, but it still linked to the PB pic. Of course I can only do that with one of the pics, but that was enough to meet the character requirement.

My only issue is that I can't get the pieces in the order I want. I want either Daox's idea:

Code:

<car picture><mpg signature>
<car picture><mpg signature>

or my original plan:

Code:

<car picture> <car picture>
<mpg signature><mpg signature>

I tried forcing the size of the mpg signature, by the ways I said before, but it didn't work. I think this might be stuck where it is at this point.

Daox 10-07-2013 10:49 PM

I fixed it for ya. Just had to modify some of the hard returns.

jeff88 10-07-2013 10:59 PM

How did you do that? Every time I deleted the hard return it would delete the next character, usually a [ bracket.

EDIT: So it's only showing up in some of my posts. A couple of them in this thread have it corrected and a couple of them have the old style.

Daox 10-07-2013 11:02 PM

There was an extra one or two in there. It looks like your car images are still a bit too wide though to fit in a normal post. Tweak them and it should all fit. I don't think you can resize an image on the fly with the forum code.

whatmaycome14 10-08-2013 02:57 AM

awesome, thanks!

jeff88 10-14-2013 10:19 PM

So I messed with the photos and got it to *mostly* work. My 4Runner pic works perfectly. I cut off some excess on the side which made the overall length a little smaller and so the pic and MPG image are on the same line.

I got the Corolla to do the same thing, side by side, but I can't seem to get the Corolla pic to be the same size. If I make it smaller, it makes it too small and if I increase the size in Photobucket or my photo editing software, it doesn't load as a bigger image, it stays the same small size. I put another pic in with a lot of extra space, but it's still smaller. I will try taking a pic of the Corolla in the same spot as the 4Runner at the same-ish distance and see if I can crop and size it to work.

Almost there...

EDIT: So after this response, I saw that my 4Runner pic and MPG image are not on the same line. I checked the preview for editing your sig pic and it has it correct, but no in primetime, it is wrong. The Corolla is fine though. Maybe I need to retake a pic of the 4Runner and make it smaller to work correctly.
