How's this for some tall gearing?

Saw this a bit ago. Man that's some tall gearing. I wonder what it's used in? I also wonder if it could be adapted for some of our "special" vehicles. RWD? |

Its also going in a couple other "super car" class machines, it was joint developed between Tremec/GM/Chrysler/a couple truck builders,, I ran across it googling around..
IIRC they claim 2,000,000 mile life expectancy for the gear box, about half that for the 2 clutches. |
Mid engine Corvette eh? Can you imagine this adapted into a Fiero GT? Wouldn't that be a hoot do drive.

The .33 over drive looks impressive on paper, but coupled to that low rear in gearing it's effectively the same as the 6 speed with the .5 over drive and 3.23 gears.

Well that gives me some hope then.
My long term project is a 1976 Triumph TR7 with a GM L33 V8 (5.3L 300 rwhp after mods 340 ft/lbs Tq) and a Tremec T-56 6 speed (0.50 6th gear) and either 3.27 or 3.31 rear end and 24" tires. If I did the math right it should be around 1600 rpm at 70 mph and only weigh around 2600 lbs. Hopefully EM will still be here when it's done (told you it was long term) and I can post some numbers. LoL |
I always take DCTs with a grain of salt, even though wet-clutch ones seem to fare better than dry-clutch. However, this one has caught my attention mostly for the low final ratio due to the presence of a transfer box, and the gears being quite close. Makes me wonder how a version with a taller final ratio and the gears spreaded further from each other could fare.
