Worth pausing the video to look at the undercar simulated airflow. |

Has anyone solved the wheel arch/cavity issue? You can't put a panel there because the wheel couldn't turn, but it creates a lot of turbulence |
At the 1:40 mark, the "spoiler hole" at the rear roof plane works similarly to the slotted roof wing on my pickup truck.
First time one of these treatments appears to be a integral part of the car and not simply a tack-on. Probably just an artifact of their presentation, not sure what the production vehicle is going to look like. Range anxiety is being countered with aerodynamics, it's about time this selling point is made public. |

EDIT: Found this image researching the idea. Porsche Panamera extra-large lightweight underfloor cover for improved aerodynamics https://www.motor1.com/photo/319669/...-aerodynamics/ https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/bz...d-aerodyn1.jpg For the above to work, the underbelly wheel opening is an inlet for the wheel that acts like a fan which in turn changes the direction of the air 90 degrees for yet another air curtain over the outside face of the wheel. Certainly more complex than the idea I had in mind which is to add a convergent duct in the front chin apron and jet it at the belly pan plane just prior to the opening. |

Wasteful as ever. The dark underbelly of consumer capitalism. The customer is never right. Rant ends now! |

Does anyone see an official figure for the cD ?
I'm seeing that someone made a comment on the video that it has a .288 ....er....( "decimal places" ) ...point 29drag coefficient. Why are they bragging about this ? |

Jinhyuck Chang Head of aerodynamics in Hyundai Motor Group: Even though the aerodynamic number of Ioniq5 is not good enough, it was challenging for aerodynamic engineers to develop under 0.29 with this rear end form. The inclination angle of rear glass is around 30 degree. We could control strong vortex from C-pillar with a rear spoiler and a hole. |
Cd 0.288
The generation it replaces was Cd 0.24. 'guess they're paying for the K-form roofline mutilation.
