I cut my mileage in half!
I had to go to Lowe's Depot on Saturday, maybe 20 miles each way. On the way in I took the "small highway" as I call it to the kids. There was very little traffic and I worked it, got 74 and change mpg for the trip.
On the way back I was more pressed for time and it was a hot day, so I took the "big highway," ran it up to 65 and hit the cruise, then said what the hell and turned on the AC. I got 37 mpg for the return run. |
Haha, and most people would really LOVE 37 mpg.
YKYAEMI... :) |
Exactly how hard did your work it?
|
I wasn't in a hurry, but I wasn't doing anything dramatic. Where it was a 50 I didn't generally get over 45, when it was a 35 I didn't get much below 40. Just trying to keep the car in its sweet spot and EOCing where possible.
I managed to avoid a few red lights with long glides. Maybe that annoyed some people who wanted to zip up to them and stop to make texting easier, but it's not something that concerns me. |
hahaha good job

Obviously, "...location, location, location..." applies equally well to eco-driving as well as to real estate marketing (wink, wink).
|
I know the AC really whacks my beetle. you can hear the engine change note. I tend to P&G the AC when it is not too hot :D
|
I use the AC for braking in the Insight. When I hit the AC button, it's like I yanked the E-brake up!
Not that I'm complaining, though. I went for a long period of time before I finally got a DD with some AC! |
I try to keep the AC to downhills only. I know how it feels to throw that anchor out.
|
To put things in perspective, I couldnt pull 37mpg all highway at 55 with the windows up A/C off and angels blowing the rear of the truck.
Count your blessings :p |
